About Calm Teas

Calm Teas is a small independent reference for people choosing a tea to unwind or sleep. It decodes the ingredient lists of popular US calming teas and links each herb to what research and official sources say.

Who writes it?

Calm Teas is an independent project, published under the site's name rather than a personal byline. Nobody behind it is a doctor, pharmacist, dietitian or herbalist, and no clinician reviews the content. We don't test teas, and we don't describe how anything tastes or works for us personally.

Research, drafting and data checks are done with the help of software tools, including AI. Every factual claim is checked against the source it cites before publication; see the editorial policy.

What makes it different?

  • Each herb is graded by the form that was actually tested: tea, extract or nothing.
  • Traditional tea amounts come from the European Medicines Agency's herbal monographs.
  • Safety cautions come from official sources such as the NIH's National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.
  • Product records use the manufacturer's own ingredient list, with the date we checked it.

How is it funded?

Calm Teas currently has no advertising, affiliate links or sponsors. If that changes, we'll say so on every affected page and here. We don't sell tea.
